Cooling off
While on Vacation at California’s and Nevada’s Best Water Parks
While on the road, why not make a day trip or a few hour’s stop to one of California’s (or Nevada’s) best water parks even if it’s just to stop for the afternoon and cool off and rejuvenate while on a family road trip or day trip? It will break up the monotony of those miles sliding by under the tires and offer a welcome reprieve from a hot stuffy car. Quality water fun can be found within a short jaunt of Tahoe/Reno, the Bay Area, or even just in Sacramento. For wet, wild and wily fun, several top notch water parks have got it where it counts for the ultimate in quality family water park excitement. If you’re heading to Tahoe or Reno for a weekend with the family this summer, you have got to take a little side excursion to a water park unsurpassed in quality, cleanliness and excitement. Wild Island Adventure Park is a truly remarkable experience for families. This Reno area park is not nearly new yet looks like it was built yesterday with quality everywhere. The slides and wave pool and floating river are clean and wonderfully designed, the staff is polite and respectful and there are even little extras that parents will appreciate like a special little secluded bar for grown ups to have a special tropical drink and hors d’oeuvres on a little sunbathing island away from the kids, excellent casual foods and snacks at all the snack bars, Dippin Dots and ice cream and numerous safe toddler areas. We could not have been more impressed by this park’s cleanliness and quality along with the clean cut professionalism of the staff. To add to the fun, across the parking lots lies an extraordinary fun park with a roller coaster, miniature Indy raceway cars, miniature golf, bowling, and a full arcade with much more fun than could possibly be mentioned. This park is a class act. Think Paramount Great America and you might think roller coasters, thrill rides, and shows, but you’ll only be thinking about half the picture. With every admission to the time tested theme park you now get to enjoy the added excitement of Crocodile Dundee’s Boomerang Bay Beach Club. Recently expanded to three times larger, this 11 acre water resort now offers 13 water slides, a lazy tubing river, water racing body speed slides wave pool and private poolside cabanas. “The new Beach Club at Crocodile Dundee’s Boomerang Bay is an upscale experience, allowing guests to spend the entire day splashing and swimming in all the water we’ve added, and it’s still free with admission to Paramount’s Great America,” says Rod Rankin, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Paramount’s Great America. Personally we loved the
private Cabanas where delicious foods like seafood salad and chicken
fingers were catered to us by a private hostess, along with
beautiful Dasani towels and refreshing water in iced buckets that is
provided with compliments to all guests of the cabanas. Thrill seeking tubers will climb aboard specially designed 4 person clover shaped tubes which hug the inside of the funnel blasting down a 132 foot long tunnel leading to a gigantic 65 foot wide tunnel. The experience culminates in a waterfall splash through the eye of the storm into a refreshing catch pool below. And back home in our own hometown area we cannot overlook Water World USA at Cal Expo. As much fun as always this water park has a little of everything with a lazy river to float till your heart’s content, endless water slides, a giant wave pool and endless choices for food including a new snack bar with gourmet coffees and a fresh fruit healthy smoothie cart outside. Water World in Sacramento even has private cabanas too where delicious foods and snacks can be provided right to your cabana by gracious wait staff in your own private little haven overlooking the action and fun. So when the temperature soars and the itch for excitement prevails there are lots of nearby choices for unforgettable water fun and memories. If you’re off on a short family road trip this summer, don’t forget to pack the towels and sunscreen for a wet, wild, and refreshing excursion---see you there! Wild Island Family Adventure Park
